The 28th Taipei Medical Law Forum (XXVIII), co-organized by the Taipei Veterans General Hospital, the International Research Foundation for Artificial Intelligence Law, and the Shih Chien University Law School, brought together experts and scholars from the medical and legal fields to discuss the latest issues in smart medical big data and medical advertising.
The opening ceremony was hosted by Vice President Hau Ming-chi of Taipei Veterans General Hospital, followed by opening remarks by Chairman Chu Shao-min of the Artificial Intelligence Law International Research Foundation, and speeches by Minister Tsai Ching-cheung of the Ministry of Legal Affairs, Chairman of the Taiwan Criminal Law Association Gan Tien-kuei Honorary Society, and Chairman Hsieh Meng-hsiung of Shih Hsien University.
As a professor of Shih Chien University and CEO of Shih Chien University, Prof. Li-Hsing Chang emphasized that big data is the key to promoting the development of smart healthcare. She suggested that while pursuing the development of healthcare for the public good, the informed consent of data providers must be taken into account to ensure the people's right to make their own decisions on healthcare ethics.
🔹 It is worth mentioning that the day before the event, the Chancellor of the Supreme Court issued a judgment on medical advertisements, stating that the part of Article 84 of the Medical Act that prohibits "doctors' personalities" from being used in medical advertisements is invalidated due to the violation of freedom of speech. In the future, it will be necessary to further study the law and measures to allow doctors to carry out medical advertisements while ensuring that the rights of patients and other related interests are not jeopardized.
🔹This forum explored in-depth the relationship between smart healthcare and the law, and stimulated thoughts and discussions on the challenges facing medical ethics and the law in the future.
